Photo from cupola atop Rice Seed, looking northward

Left-to-right: Ray Durrin’s house in the 1970s, American Legion home on the corner (was A.B.McNish house), the back of the Wash Cnty Post building, Rice Mansion.

The roadway to the right of the Wash Cnty Post building was just a driveway at this time, a way to get to the warehouses in back.

What we call St Lukes today was called Pearl Street at the time of this photo. Eventually the driveway became a street giving rise to North Pearl St (today St Lukes) and South Pearl St (today Pearl St)

A 1925 map refers to what today we call St Lukes was labeled St Lukes with North Pearl in parentheses, indicating the name change may have been recent.

Main Street is not yet paved with Yellow Bricks, so this photo is pre-1913
