At the village elections on Wednesday March 18, 2020 residents were to be asked to approve a 25-year $3.7M bond issue to build a new firehouse on Gilbert Street (Route 313). Alas, the pandemic changed that. The vote was held in Sep-2020 and the bond issue was approved.

Groundbreaking was held Saturday 17-Jul-2021 10am
On Sunday 22-Sep-2022 at 5pm, the fire trucks pulled out of the old firehosue for the last time. They paraded to the West End, returned to 11 West Main for a closing ceremony. They then proceeded to their new home on Gilbert Street

There is a photo of Fire chief Nash Alexander with son, Gavin, one of the CCS 4th graders who visited the new firehouse today. Gavin had the honor of leading the 4th graders into the firehouse, making him the very first person in Cambridge history to enter the new firehouse for a tour.
The bell and the eagle were taken down off 11 West Main and placed on the front lawn of the new firehouse
